I met with Ade and her fiance’ on Sunday in my home office. This is the first time I’ve invited my clients to my house for a consultation. I reorganized my office space (the small second bedroom) to include a decorative display table and chairs for my guests. The consultation went great. I had all my samples set up including paper swatches, ribbon swatches and a potpourri of embellishments and Swarovski crystals. The one thing I forgot was the silk fabric swatches for the invitation boxes. So when my client asked to see it, I said “sure”. What I failed to realize is that it was no where to be found. About three weeks ago I did a little “Spring” cleaning, which included buying a whole bunch of bins and plastic containers that have the little compartments so that you can keep everything nicely organized. I could have sworn I put it in the container with all my ribbon spools. So after looking in all the obvious places I told my client that I will have to look for it and show it to her when we meet for our second consultation. That night I tore up my entire office looking for the silk fabric swatch. I looked EVERYWHERE and still could not find it. I wanted to pull my hair out. Then I thought, “Oh no, what if I accidentally threw it out when I did my Spring cleaning!” It’s driving me crazy, so this morning I emailed my supplier to order another swatch. The only problem is the supplier is in Thailand and it will take more than just a couple of days for it to be delivered. Plus, with the 12 hour time difference it usually takes a full day before he e-mails me back. When I’m getting up in the morning, he’s going to bed. Talk about international business. I haven’t heard back from him yet, but I’ll probably hear back from him tonight at around 10 pm EST, when it’s 10 am in Thailand. When I get home, I’m going to look for the swatch one more time. I hope midnight didn’t eat it (my dog)!! It wouldn’t be the first time he’s gotten a hold of my supplies.
